The water temperatures are falling and the crappie are biting! The fall crappie season is now underway here on Weiss Lake and the crappie are beginning to get active. We were out on the water several days this week and had stringers ranging from 25 to 52! We have been catching our crappie fishing minnows along the river and creek ledges as well as shooting jigs under the docks. The fish have been more active on live bait on the ledges. Both of these techniques will work well as we go through the month of October. The water temperatures have now dropped into the low 70's and this is getting the fish active but it should get better as it drops into the 60's. Alabama Power has started their winter draw down and the lake is now two feet below full pool so use caution when you are on the lake this fall. The water levels will continue to drop until the lake is six feet low. This is the last year that Alabama Power will drop the lake this low in the winter. Starting in 2022, the new winter level will be three feet low. We still have dates available, so call me today to get in on some of this hot fall action! Remember there is a 10 inch size limit on crappie on Weiss Lake and the daily creel limit is 30 per person, per day! See Ya' on the Water!
